Women in The 1920's
*With urbanization women took new roles in the government
*1921 Agnes McPhail becomes the first female MP, the only women until 1935
*Even with new urbanization a majority of women still expected to stay at home
*Flappers - type of dancers
*Women were allowed to wear different things, show more skin.
*Popular music was jazz, new dances - Charleston
*Women were also allowed to wear their hair short
*Women were allowed to get jobs now but were paid very poorly, not paid the same as men even if they are working the same job
*Emily Murphy and the Famous Five*
*The persons case (1929) challenged the fact that women were not considered "persons" under the Canadian law.
*Under this law only 'persons' were allowed to be judges and receive the spoils of the divorce
*Emily Murphy and a judge from Edmonton and 4 of her associates "The Famous Five" appealed decision that women were not 'person' eventually overturned in 1929.

Summary:
This time period was very women powered. We now have the right to vote, to wear more revealing clothing, to have short hair, to be able to work and job and not just keep the house running smoothly, we can dance and we have women in higher ranked government positions.
