The Electoral System : Political Parties
*There are four main parties in canada
*The two originals Liberal party of Canada and the Conservative party of Canada
*Liberals Lead by Bob Rae,
*Conservatives lead by Stephen Harper who is also our current Prime Minister.
*The liberals on the political spectrum are right wing as well as the Conservatives.
*Originally these parties were the two main leaders in the government,
*Being the main party or the official opposition.
*NDP’s made a surprise and became for the first time the official opposition to the Conservatives.
*At the time the NDP’s (New Democratic Party), was lead by Jack Layton.
*Recently passed away new interim leader Nycole Turmel.
*The NDP’s are Left wing on the spectrum
*Bloc Quebecios lead by interim leader Vivian Barbot, this party is Left wing as well.
*Green Party of Canada which is lead by Elizabeth May.
*This party is centrist/moderate on the spectrum.
*The believe in traditions and change.

*A party must have a minimum of 12 seats in the house of commons to have Official party status
