Governor General - Head of State Vs. Head of House
*The current Governor General is David Johnston
*Governor general is also known as the Head of State
*The Governor's job is to represent the monarchy (the Queen)
*They make announcements for the government but they don't actually deal with any of the Legislation
*The current head of Government is Stephen Harper with the Conservative party of Canada
*The head of government is appointed to the person who wins the most seats in the house of commons in elections.
*Head of Government is also the Prime Minister
*The governor general must appoint as Prime minister someone who holds the confidence in the House of Commons.
* If there is no majority government then a minority government would be sworn in and a Head of Government is chosen.
*The Head of Government keeps there position until either they resign, lose the majority vote in the house of commons or are removed but the governor general.
