Parliament, House of Commons and Senate
*Parliament is made up of a group of representatives, these representatives govern our country.
*These representatives are called Members of Parliament or MP's.
* They are elected for each riding of around 100,000 people, Also known as constituency, electoral district or seat.
*The parliament is divided into different sectors, the house of commons and the senate.
*House of Commons - is where all the MP's including the Prime minister as well as the cabinet get together and discuss laws and the country.
*MP's put forth laws, then they debate and pass a legislation but these laws have to pass the senate before they become effective.
*The Senate isn't an elected body like the other two
*Made up of around 105 people who are appointed by the governor general and only recommended by the prime minister
*To be apart of the senate and be a Senator, you must be over 30 years old but can only remain until you are 75. You must also be a Canadian citizen.
