Minorities in Canada in the 1920's
*Aboriginal people could not vote
*Aboriginal reserves had bad Economic and Social conditions
*Residential schools were NOT successful
*They were run by priests and nuns, lots of physical and sexual abuse
*Canadian government fought for the banning of the Potlatch ceremony
*Lots of land claims battle were continuing especially in B.C.
*Lands were removed from reserves cut-off lands that had not been given by natives

*They had a separate school system in Nova Scotia until 1954
*Racially segregated seating in Quebec theaters
*The KKK also had some branches in Canada, even though they didn't last long
*Immigrations from Asia had severe limitations (law in 1923 excluded Chinese until 1947)

*They were allowed in because they worked for low wages

Summary:
Minorities in Canada weren't seen as a big issue then but now we are seeing the repercussions. Especially in the victims of residential schools the abuse and violence that they underwent is quite extreme. The banning of certain minorities was because the government thought that these minorities would take jobs from true 'White' Canadians.
